Known issues
A plain list of what Nubo OS does not do yet, what is untested and what surprises people, taken from the project repository.
Nubo OS is a beta. The items below are not built, untested or surprising. If you find something that is not listed, write to support@nubo.email.
What is not built yet?
Nubo Drive, Nubo Backup, a migration app, Nubo Pro, a Nubo Store with its own login, translations, published benchmarks, a supported private mirror of the archive, and release upgrades to a later Nubo OS release.
What is untested or early access?
- The desktop installer image is not built by the release system yet, and the arm64 desktop image is untested on real hardware.
- Server images are built for all four editions and both processors but have not been tested on real hardware.
- Cloud, VM and Raspberry Pi images have scripts but are marked untested.
- Sign-in with a Nubo account at the login screen has not been approved end to end with a real account. It needs a network at first boot and retries each boot. The first account to sign in owns the machine.
- The “Nubo” provider in GNOME Online Accounts is a preview, tested only against a test server. It supports one password only, so an account with two-factor authentication needs an app password.
What surprises people?
snapdstays on the desktop because the account sign-in broker is a snap.lsb_releasestill says Ubuntu.- The installer asks an Ubuntu service for your time zone.
- Opting out of Nubo Cumulus does not restore Ubuntu’s source file on a machine that already switched.
- Running
nubo-server-firewallagain deletes your own firewall rules. - Password login over SSH stays on until you install an SSH key.
- Automatic reboots are off.
- The Nubo archive key expires on 1 October 2031.
- One boot-menu entry still reads “Ubuntu”; it is hidden on a normal start.
- The Nubo OS package version and the release tag do not always match; check your installed version.
