MCP server
The Nubo MCP server lets an AI assistant read and act on a signed-in user's Nubo data, with about 125 tools grouped by app.
The Nubo MCP server is one Model Context Protocol server for the whole suite. An AI client such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor gets about 125 tools named by app (for example nubo_mail_search, nubo_calendar_event_create, nubo_crm_deals) and acts as one signed-in Nubo user. It is run by you, from the repository; a hosted MCP endpoint is not yet published.
How do I install it?
It lives in packages/nubo-mcp (Node 20 or newer):
cd packages/nubo-mcp
npm install
node bin/nubo-mcp.js --help
It speaks MCP over stdio by default. --http --port 3333 serves Streamable HTTP at POST /mcp instead.
How does it sign in?
Preferred: a personal API key in NUBO_TOKEN, created in Nubo Home under Security (API keys): name it, choose an expiry, copy it once. You can revoke it there. A session token also works. A password sign-in works but cannot pass two-step verification on its own.
How do I configure Claude?
Claude Desktop (claude_desktop_config.json):
{
"mcpServers": {
"nubo": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["/absolute/path/to/packages/nubo-mcp/bin/nubo-mcp.js"],
"env": {
"NUBO_API": "https://api.nubosuite.tech",
"NUBO_TOKEN": "paste-your-key",
"NUBO_READONLY": "1"
}
}
}
}
NUBO_READONLY=1 registers read tools only. NUBO_APPS=mail,calendar,tasks,crm loads only the tool groups you need, which saves context.
What can it do and not do?
- Tools cover files and team drives, key-value, mail, contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, documents, spreadsheets and presentations (read and create), CRM, time, teams, sharing, shared business data, signatures and account information.
- Accounting, Invoicing, Expenses and Inventory are read-only on purpose. Invoicing totals are recomputed and should be treated as close, not authoritative.
- Help Desk, Hiring, Contracts, Projects, Surveys, Wiki, POS, Shifts and several industry apps have no dedicated tools; some data is readable raw.
- If an app is open in a browser while an assistant writes to the same data, one of them may overwrite the other (CRM saves whole collections). Close the app or use the MCP for reading.
How do I keep it safe?
Use a read-only key until you trust the setup, set an expiry, and revoke it in Security when done. The HTTP mode needs an auth token when it listens on anything but loopback.
