Moving your email

How to move a team's email to Nubo: add your domain, check the MX record and keep the old mailboxes read-only. No import tool exists.

To move company email to Nubo, add your domain to a team, publish the DNS records Nubo shows, and change the MX record to mail.nubo.email last. There is no tool that copies old messages across, so keep the old mailboxes open and read-only for a week or two after the switch.

What are the steps?

  1. List every address that receives mail, including shared addresses, aliases, groups and automated senders.
  2. Pick a quiet day and tell your team and key customers.
  3. Add the domain under Teams, Custom domain. See Custom domain and mail setup.
  4. A day or two before, lower the time-to-live on the MX records at your DNS provider.
  5. Change the MX record to mail.nubo.email and choose Check DNS.
  6. Give each member an address on the domain.
  7. Send test messages both ways, to an outside address too.
  8. Keep the old mailboxes read-only for a week or two.

Can I copy my old messages?

Not with a Nubo tool. Message history stays in the old system unless you move it yourself. Contacts and calendars can be imported from files; see Contacts, calendars and business data.

What about SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

Nubo verifies the MX record only. Sending authentication for your domain is your responsibility, and DKIM signing for custom domains is not built. See Custom domain and mail setup.

Is there a longer checklist?

Yes: Switching team email without losing a day.
